After a blistering performance last weekend at Trondheim Calling, it felt like a necessity to share the music of Biru Baby.

The band themselves hail from Sápmi, a cultural region which spans across Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia, which itself is made up of the Sami people who historically have led a semi-nomadic life living off roaming herds of wild Reindeer.

Positioned in the wilds of the furthermost northern regions of these Fenno-Scandinavia countries, Biru Baby have created a sound and a style that is equal parts bizarre, baffling, and brilliantly unique within the relative isolation of their home. Described to me by a friend as sounding like ‘Babymetal on acid’, you can check out a selection of their tracks and videos below.
