British hip hop feels in a pretty good place right now, what with Loyle Carner breaching the mainstream, alongside a plethora of powerful women making colossal inroads both commercially and critically. London’s Nineteen Ninety Four, makes quite the mark on his ambitious debut track, Butterfly, merging choppy, almost Kanye-esque beats with a drawl as smooth as anything I’ve heard this year.
