Aquilo – Human
Ludicrously talented duo Aquilo released two EPs in 2014, the second, Human, showing further progression of their effortless haunting sound. iTunes
Banoffee – s/t
Possibly the brightest rising star from Australia’s blossoming electronic-pop scene, Banoffee’s self-titled EP is deliriously addictive. iTunes
Ben Khan – 1992
Potentially my favourite EP of 2014; Youth is a truly game-changing track. iTunes
Billie Black – 000100
Few artists encapsulate the ‘now’ as much as Billie Black, and her 000100 EP hinted at even more to come. iTunes
Billie Marten – Ribbon
One of the essential voices of 2014 with one of the finest EP releases of the year. iTunes
Black Honey – EP
Brighton’s finest new band of the year with four tracks of melodic indie-rock and roll, part Yeah Yeah Yeahs, part Skins episode. (Only available at shows)
Blaue Blume – Beau & Lorette
Falsetto led, Smiths inspired Danes with a fine ear for a killer hook. iTunes
Broods – EP
Now with an album under their belts, their EP released at the turn of the year is still the most coherent realisation of their sound. iTunes
Bully – s/t
Initially released at the tail end of 2013, their signing with Star Time saw a re-release alongside new track, Milkman. One of my tips for 2015. iTunes / Bandcamp
Cathedrals – s/t
San Francisco dream-pop duo made quite the mark on 2014, with their fantastically received debut release. iTunes / Vinyl
Cloud Castle Lake – Dandelion
Gorgeously textured, Radiohed indebted first release from this Irish trio. iTunes / Vinyl
East of Ely – s/t
Stadium tempting, fell good anthems from Sydney outfit East Of Ely, with choruses that Foster the People would kill for. iTunes
Elder Island – EP
Funky, ambitious odd-pop from the Bristol trio; a delightfully endearing release. iTunes
Formation – EP
London twins Formation announced their arrival with this disco inspired self-titled EP, only available in 12″, creating waves despite their minimal online presence. Vinyl

Huntar – Bitter
Keeping info to a minimum, Huntar’s debut EP centred itself around the release of stunning single, Bitter. iTunes
Jack Garratt – Remnants
A surprise omission from BBC’s Sound of 2015, Garratt’s Remnants EP marked him out as one of this years essential songwriters. iTunes
Kilo Kish – Across
Bold, vibrant yet soulful R&B from Chet Faker collaborator Kilo Kish. iTunes
Klo – Cusp
Aussie cousins Klo helped fill the temporary void left by Grimes and Purity Ring on their ambitious first outing. iTunes
