I’m not particularly up on modern jazz music; to be honest I’m entirely within my safety zone when it comes to the genre, sticking to the classics instead of exploring new territories.
However, this ten minute track from Serbian alternative jazz outfit EYOT caught my eye, initially for it’s fascinating artwork. Horizon is a quirky journey through numerous genres, adopting an easily accessible approach to a genre that is often found to be rather uncompromising. Opening with a tinkling piano introduction, the track descends into a swirling mirage of reverb washed guitars, before reaching a crescendo at around the half way mark. EYOT may not be the fit in with the conventional style of artists posted on CitR, but Horizon is certainly worth a listen.
