Walking down the riff raff of City Road everyday can become a little grinding on ones perspective of life.

At first, I enjoyed the sensuous cocktail of cheap shampoo, leaking beer kegs, rotating kebab pillars and your local shishamans breath, but there’s only so many cocktails one can take till nausea comes-a-knockin’.

Luckily in life, there’s this beautiful thing called alchemy, which the Cardiff based collective, Modern Alchemists, have pioneered to inject colour and culture on the streets of Roath.

Empty Walls is a public art project, celebrating the creativity and democratistaion of urban art for local and international artists. Unfortunately, I missed the grand finale tour the Alchemists conducted, however, I took on my own quest one sunny autumnal afternoon, map in hand, to go on some kind of art-easter-egg hunt. I found no chocolate but saw many visual treats – on da streets.

Keep your eyeballs peeled for future happenings of the Alchemists. Anything that can ease the queases of City Road seductions are winners in my book.
