The Dan Brown I’m gonna talk about (if you haven’t guessed) is the Bristol Based artist, who is doing some very exciting things, by comparison to novel writing or playing football, like his other namesakes.
This Dan Brown, explores the relationship between art in the virtual world, and art in the physical world. Challenging our relationship with technology and what it means to consistently live with and maintain our own virtual counterparts. Looking at the crossover, art that can exist both online and in reality, using this concept, creating virtual objects or images that act as a teaser or preview for the physical object that will be revealed.
His “Ad Hoc” Advertising Campaign is a brutal and hilarious example of this relationship in action. Hyping up and building the anticipation for his latest project www.thevirtualdegreeshow.com
Dan is currently about to become a resident artist in Philadelphia Street, Bristol. As a part of The New Collective and their Summer Residency and Exhibition Program, so keep an eye out for the resulting exhibition, it’s going to be a good one!
