Hype Williams are slowly becoming one of London’s most exciting production duos.
There’s a distinct feeling with their music, that what we’re listening to isn’t just music. It seems unsurprising that the pair both have degrees in fine art, combine this with the fact that the duo’s name comes from the cult film-maker, and the conceptual aspects of their music seem self explanatory. Their new piece seems as intense in its delirium, as it is mellow in its execution. Layered synths surround what sound like drug induced murmurings and spiritual babble; it all comes together in a whirlwind of lo-fi haze. It really is a stomach churner, in the very best of ways.
