With The Weeknd’s compilation trilogy imminent, it seems we’re due a few more cuts from the experimental Rn’B artist prior to its release.

Music from The Weeknd is always welcome, but as it sometimes goes with his music, it can often feel like you’ve heard it all before. His last LP, Echoes of Silence, often felt like we were actually allowed close to the mysterious artists’ thoughts and feelings, rather than just the character he embodies. Tracks like Same Old Song were simple but elegant in their execution. It provided the much-needed padding to the sordid and dark tales that hog the main thread of the narrative. His new track, Enemy, unfortunately serves as a murky middle ground between the two strands in his song writing; sex, drugs and rock n’ roll, but little else.
