Well I’m cursing the fact I don’t live in New York right now…

Following the news that Pulp will be touring the US for the first time in 10 years, it has been confirmed that the support act in New York will be lo-fi freakfolk master Jeffrey Lewis, according to a post on his facebook page today.

Britpop sensations Pulp are returning to the US this Spring to play a handful of dates including a New York gig at Radio City Music Hall on the 10th of April, where the Sheffield boys will be joined by the NY native, Jeff, and his band The Junkyard. Pulp’s frontman, radio presenter & all-round working class hero Jarvis Cocker  previously described Jeffrey Lewis as The best lyricist working in the US today.

“We might need to dress up for this one” the post on Jeffrey Lewis & the Junkyard’s facebook read but this isn’t the first time Cocker & Lewis have shared a billing. Back in 2008 they toured together (Jeff actually wrote an article about it for NME) and both played solo sets at Rough Trade’s 25th Anniversary.
