Having ‘tipped’ Noble Oak as an act to keep on your radar in 2012, it’s brilliant to hear new material from the Vancouver musician despite being only two days into the new year. The Mydriatic Sea finds Noble Oak experimenting with vocal sections, morphing them beyond recognition whilst keeping them intriguing. Where his highly recommended debut EP No Bloke took a more straightforward glo-wave direction, this new cut appears to be trialing new sounds and methods, to sumptuous effect. With more new material on the way, and a debut physical release just around the corner, I’m eagerly anticipating watching Noble Oak spread his branches.
