Not for the first time this year, I’ve intended to write an article about a relatively obscure new act, and a quick Google search reveals that their only coverage so far has been on Lost Lost Lost via the ever-present King of vibes Matt Britton. Hailing from Manchester, Shinies debut track Spent Youth is a gritty number, neither exploding into life nor settling for merely trundling along; landing somewhere in the middle, as an intriguing splutter. As Matt pointed out, there’s little information on Shinies so far, aside from Youth Spent, an image of a topless woman on a playing card, and a band title that (I hope) is a reference to Panini stickers, and let’s face it, everyone loved a shiny.
