In a very short space of time Azealia Banks has managed to gather the world at her feet. This sudden influx in attention I might add was all due to a certain ‘club ready’ tune called ‘212’. Her follow up, Grand Scam (Lyrical Exercise)’, only exists for around 1:42, but even in such a short space of time it’s hard not to see what all the fuss is about. This time the beats are sparser, with the focus almost purely on Banks’ quick-witted word play. The rhymes are boisterous, arrogant, crass and toe-curlingly sporadic; yet I’m left with the feeling that Banks’ was serenading me in the only way she knows how. This I fear could just be me.
