Nicholas Maggio’s photography ultimately creates a feeling of insecurity when pondering the inspiration for his work. He manages to take photos that seem utterly contrived and orchestrated, while spontaneous and friendly. If his work is completely incidental then Maggio must have a set of friends that act, feel and dress like film stars ALL THE FUCKING TIME. Regardless, they’re rather intriguing; the colours are rich and bold while the compositions continue the off-kilter blend of styles. In a world filled with artist who try to capture the instantaneous and spontaneous, Maggio manages to make it seems effortless; he creates idols and characters in a world full of everyday people. He celebrates the human.
